The 11th International Metropolis Conference will take place 2-6 October
2006 in Lisbon, Portugal. The theme is Paths and Crossroads: Moving
People, Changing Places. Plenary sessions will include:
- Urban Vitality, Urban Renewal: How Immigrants are Transforming Our Cities
- Sharing Responsibility in the Management of Migration and Development
- Contemporary Immigration Management: Temporary and Circular Migration
- Migration Struggles in the Western Mediterranean Region
- A Lusophone Community: Multinational Alliances, Multiple Belongings
- Integration and the 'Second Generation'
- Moving People, Changing Place: What Should We Expect in 25 Years
We welcome workshop proposals on topics related to migration and
diversity and particularly those related to the conference theme.
Workshops must be internationally comparative and should include
participants from the policy, research and the non-governmental sectors.
The deadline for workshop proposals has been extended until March 31,

La 11e Conférence internationale Metropolis se tiendra du 2 au 6 octobre
2006, à Lisbonne, au Portugal. La conférence s'intitule « À la croisée
des chemins : la migration et l'évolution du paysage urbain » et
comprendra les séances plénières suivantes (offertes en anglais) :
- Vitalité urbaine, renouveau urbain : Comment les immigrants transforment nos
villes (Vitality, Urban Renewal: How Immigrants are Transforming Our Cities)
- Partage des responsabilités dans la gestion de la migration et du
développement (Sharing Responsibility in the Management of Migration
and Development)
- Gestion de l'immigration contemporaine : Migration temporaire et
circulaire (Contemporary Immigration Management: Temporary and
Circular Migration)
- Les défis de la migration dans l'ouest de la région méditerranéenne
(Migration Struggles in the Western Mediterranean Region)
- Une communauté lusophone : alliances multinationales, appartenances
multiples (A Lusophone Community: Multinational Alliances, Multiple
Belongings)
- L'intégration et la « deuxième génération » (Integration and the
'Second Generation')
- La migration et l'évolution du paysage urbain : qu'en sera-t-il dans 25 ans?
(Moving People, Changing Place: What Should We Expect in 25 Years)
Vos suggestions d'ateliers sur les sujets liés à la migration et à la
diversité, et particulièrement celles qui sont liées au thème de la
conférence, sont les bienvenues. Les ateliers doivent fournir des
comparaisons sur le plan international et doivent comprendre des
participants des secteurs de la politique, de la recherche, et des
organismes non gouvernementaux.
La date limite pour soumettre les propositions d'atelier a été reportée
