Thanks, Carol.
I hope as the person who sent out the announcements that my role is not overplayed. The wiki behind RadioTC wouldn't be there without Mark Freestone, and I can guarantee we would not have a radio station at all if it were not for Ian Milne. If it weren't for both of them, beavering away over the weekend, the launch would have been even more delayed. I think the role of people who encourage and those who seize the opportunities should not be underestimated - look what Rex has done audio-diary-wise, look what Les Spencer and David Cruise have done (and keep watching to see what more they all have in store for us), and look on the email lists for an idea of where and from whom the enthusiasm is drawn. Not always directly, either - the way you have communicated on the list over the past year, for example, has certainly contributed to my personal sense that the midnights and weird frustrations of pitting self against computer are worthwhile. A community has itself to blame for the creative and productive things that arise out of it; which means that every individual member, whether active and obvious or quietly watching (and maybe from time to time joining in) bears some of the responsibility as well. That's a good thing!
One of the exciting questions now, is: "Which therapeutic community or training course is going to be the first to seize the challenge of putting together a 'Community Magazine'?" And, which of the major organisations is going to make first use of the "Mainly for Members..." service? Who is going to extend their horizons for us first?
Would this exist without TC-OF and EFTC email lists? No.
Anthony Slater emailed off-list this morning, with the script of a report about the TC Winter Games in Norway which we hope to record and get up on RadioTC this weekend, and he says "I have always thought that tc folk are some of the most creative people I have met. " That's right, and that is one reason it is such a privilege to be involved. But how can we take it further and do it better?
By the way, if anyone going to the Community of Communities Annual Review tomorrow has a tape recorder, or minidisk or flash recorder - or has worked out how to turn their laptop into a recorder (with external microphone, of course!) - could you please record your impressions, or (with permissions) talks or others' reactions to CofC; and we'll try to get that up on the station as well next week. Check with Sarah Paget of course when you get there.
All the best, and very many thanks,
Craig
