Dearest qualitative researchers,
I've just posted release 3.33b5 for TAMS Analyzer, the open source
qualitative analysis program for Macintosh. This version includes
"universal binaries," Apple's new format. It has new features to help
linguists including fine positioning of the scrub bar, support for
setting end time to coded segments, and for the general user, the
ability to sort file lists.
With the new universal binaries things have gotten complicate,
however. There are now 4 (FOUR) flavors of tams: a single user
version which should run on anything under the sun (jaguar and
later). This doesn't include the code that lets multiple users synch
to a central database. There are separate builds for tiger, panther,
and jaguar of the multiuser code, since these need separate libraries
to connect to MySQL (a database that is used as the hub for multiple
researchers working together). Note that the tiger (universal) build
should also work for Panther 10.3.9; I don't think it will work for
earlier versions.
At any rate, you can get what you need from http://tamsys.sf.net/
