DCMS Minister James Purnell today launched a consultation on whether the

such legislation should take.

4.4.	National Healthy Living Week 15-21 May
Last year, the National Assembly for Wales' All Party Group on Healthy
Living successfully organised the first 'Assembly Healthy Living Day.' This

4.5.	International Museums Day
It has been recommended that this celebration be held each year on the 18th
of May (Given that each country has its own specific traditions and

understanding, co-operation and peace among peoples »

7.2.	Museum Diversity and Small Museums Group

The guest speaker will be Carolyn Graves-Brown, curator of the Egypt Centre
in Swansea.  Carolyn will give a presentation on the current issues facing
the University Museum sector in Wales and the work of the Egypt Centre
itself.

of the group to update members on their current projects and to raise any

9.4.	Brittle Paper and Beetles: Conservation Workshop 
Saturday 8 April/10am-3pm
How do libraries, museums and archives protect their collections from all
manner of nasties, and what do conservators do to preserve treasures for
future generations? Conservator Caroline Bendix will lead this workshop on a
whole range of issues that collections face and how they are dealt with, and
will also give practical tips and advice for looking after your own books,
letters, photographs and precious items.

10.2.	Gift Aid - Important Changes
As announced in the 2004 Pre-Budget Report, this measure will stop charities
simply reclassifying admission fees as donations on which Gift Aid can be
claimed
and will instead restore the key principle of Gift Aid, to promote
additional giving to

Information from the Attractions Gift Aid Liaison Group - Gift Aid for
Charitable Attractions
Gift Aid is available to eligible Charitable Attractions that accept
donations from visitors who are UK taxpayer, and provide free admission in
return. The terms and conditions for eligibility under this scheme, first
introduced in 2000, have been changed and new rules apply from April 2006.

10.4.	Social Enterprise Development Scheme
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Community Enterprise Wales and the
Scarman Trust have formed a partnership to deliver a new Social Enterprise
Development Scheme targeted at Objective 1 former coalfield areas of Wales.

2006.

'The demand for grants towards conservation and restoration projects was
significantly higher than in recent years meaning that the PRISM Fund for
2005-2006 is now oversubscribed and MLA is unable to accept any further
applications until 1 April 2006.'

13.1.	House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology
...has appointed a Sub-Committee, chaired by Baroness Sharp of Guildford, to
examine the role of science, engineering and technology in the conservation
of the United Kingdom's cultural heritage.
The inquiry will look at the use of science in monitoring the condition of
buildings and objects of cultural importance, at the application of
scientific and engineering techniques to conservation, and at the ways
science and technology can enhance public understanding of and access to
cultural objects.

13.2.	Preservation and Conservation Issues Related to Digital Printing and
Digital Photography

The Institute of Physics in collaboration with the MATAR Research Centre of
The University of Arts London are staging a third two day conference to
examine progress and research on materials and processes used for producing
digital prints and photographs for archival storage.

13.3.	Icon to make HLF appointments
Icon is to make two appointments, based in Edinburgh, to manage the bursary
placements being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund over the next four
years. Sixty placements are planned to address the shortage of practical and

The Glynn Vivian Gallery in Swansea is currently hosting a comprehensive
exhibition of photography, music and video by British artist Phil Collins. 
'yeah.....you, baby you' is resident at the Glynn Vivian until April 23 2006
and showcases work that is often the culmination of prolonged periods of
contact between the artist and the individuals pictured in his work.

18.1.	North East Museums, Libraries and Archives Council
NEMLAC has set up an electronic discussion list for the North East Oral
History Network. The discussion list will give members of the network the
opportunity to discuss oral history issues and exchange ideas. It will also
