The Medici Archive Project is offering one three-year fellowship
(September 15, 2006 - July 15, 2009) with 20 months of full-time
document assessment and description for the Documentary Sources database
in collaboration with the Project's research team onsite in the Archivio
di Stato di Firenze and 10 months of independent research on a topic
related to the Medici Granducal Archive, carried out in two 5-month
segments in the second and third year of the fellowship period.
Fellows will have the following qualifications: a completed PhD or
equivalent in a humanities field relevant to 16th-18th century European
history and culture; fluency in English and Italian (a knowledge of
other languages is desirable); substantial research experience with
original documentary material; the ability to master database programs
and work in a computer environment; a personal commitment to a scholarly
career involving archival research.
The fellowship stipend is $36,000 per year plus an allowance for travel
expenses. This fellowship is supported by the National Endowment for the
Humanities and is offered to scholars who are United States Citizens or
have been residents of the United States for three years at the time of
application.

The Medici Archive Project is offering two twelve-month fellowships (16
October, 2006 - 15 October, 2007) devoted to building the Documentary
Sources database and pursuing an independent research project related to
Siena and its territory during the period 1537-1743. The Fellows will
carry out their work on-site in the Archivio di Stato di Firenze in
collaboration with the Project's research team, making use of the
volumes of the Medici Granducal Archive. The fellowship is divided into
three phases: training in the use of the database; evaluation and data
entry of documents from the Mediceo del Principato related to Siena;
finalization and presentation of the fellow's research project. Fellows
will have the following qualifications: a completed Ph.D. or the
equivalent in a humanities field relevant to Early Modern European
history and culture; fluency in English and Italian (a knowledge of
other languages is desirable); substantial research experience with
original documentary material; the ability to work with computer
database programs and commitment to a scholarly career involving
archival research. The fellowship stipend is Euro 30.000 plus an
allowance for travel expenses. Those fellowships are supported by the
Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena.

applicant's qualifications and the merits of the research proposal

A Research Fellowship in Art History / Visual Culture
King's College, Cambridge, wishes to appoint a Research Fellow (a
four-year faculty level position), in any aspect of Visual Culture.
The field is conceived as broadly as possible. As well as traditional
areas of Art History, applicants may for example be working on non-
European art, relationships between cultures, aspects of material
culture, inter-relations between different media, history of new media,
visual theory, scientific illustration.
The Fellowship will be tenable for up to four years from 1 October 2006.
Graduates of any university are eligible, subject to the condition that
they shall have obtained, or expect to obtain, a PhD or equivalent. The
successful candidate will be a member of King's College and will be
expected to take a full part in College life and to reside in Cambridge.
