Archaeological opportunities don't come any better *.
With over 19,000 entries in the County HER, 880 scheduled areas, some 35 historic parks and gardens and 5 battlefields, North Yorkshire is an ideal place to practice archaeology. The Heritage Section of the Planning & Countryside Unit works to conserve and enhance this unique historic environment by monitoring over 11,000 planning applications and thousands of other schemes every year. We are now seeking to second or recruit an assistant archaeologist for a period of about 8 months to cover for maternity leave.
