Hi Tim
We seem to have misjudged when to return, we thought spring would be a good time but....
I am back at UoG which is nice and down to earth being back with students rather than Ministers of education (although there are some similarities in terms of excuses for not doing things properly). We went back to ethiopia for a couple of weeks in february and kate is hosting some Ethiopian University presidents who are visiting the UK in May and then off to Zambia. I hope to have some work in the Yemen so we feel quite pleased with the work/leisure balance.
How are you regarding work? and leisure? How is Brian?
Perhaps we can meet up sometime?
Philip

Anthony, two of my colleagues, Robert Murphy and Steve Chibnall have done
some work on 'the spiv' if that is helpful to your contact. I don't think
however either of them were the mystery researcher....

this is a request for the old hands i think. some time ago someone was
researching at WAC, for a PhD I am told, on the subject of the image of
the spiv in popular culture, walker in dad's army. no one at the archive
can remember the name of the researcher and I haven't been able to find
any publications. would anyone have an idea who it might have been? anthony
