CALL FOR PAPERS - Deadline for submission of proposals: 30 April 2006.
British Journal of Social Work 2007 SPECIAL ISSUE:
Caring for People. Social Work with Adults in the Next Decade and Beyond
The editors of BJSW invite submission of abstract proposals for a Special Issue, to be guest edited by Margaret Holloway and Mark Lymbery, with a proposed publication date of April/May 2007. The Special Issue will be devoted to social work with adults and will deal with the themes which have preoccupied the development and delivery of services in the UK and elsewhere in the world. All contributing authors will be expected to place their work in its international context. Abstracts are invited for original articles which fall into the following themes:
* The changing pattern of relationships between users, carers and professionals;
* The development of concepts of social inclusion and exclusion and their implications for social work with adults.
* The balance between the desire to foster the independence of service users and the need to ensure that they are adequately protected.
* Consideration of the impact of new policy and practice developments - for example, in England and Wales, the growth of direct payments, the Single Assessment Process - on the nature of social work practice.
* The impact of new patterns of partnership and collaboration within the provision of social care services.
* Building the knowledge base and the development of evidence-based practice.
Proposals falling outside of these themes will also be considered providing the work is relevant to the changing policy and practice face of social work with adults, including older people, adults with disabilities and service users with mental health problems.
Proposals, in the form of an abstract, should be no more than 800 words in length and should deal with the following: background to the proposed paper; outline of content; research method and key findings (if based on empirical research); main conclusions. Authors invited to submit a full paper will be expected to comply with the BJSW guidance to authors.
All proposals should be sent by e-mail attachment to both:
