Hi
quite a number of medical schools are using their own systems, often
running in parallel with otherwise institution-wide OTS systems. In
Edinburgh we have a purpose built system for UG Medicine, UG Vet
Medicine and PG Medics and Vets together as well as running WebCT for
the majority of the rest of the institution - we won one of the
Queen's Anniversary Prizes for HE and FE last year for our bespoke
VLE work.
Also check out Julian Cook's report on VLE use across medicine and
dentistry at http://www.medev.ac.uk/resources/funded_projects/
show_project?reference_number=389
I'd be happy to go on at extraordinary lengths about why DIY works
for us - if anyone wants me to that is ...
best
Rachel
