medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I suppose the author is paraphrasing (from memory) Gamaliel's advice in
Acts 5.38-9: Et nunc itaque dico vobis, discedite ab hominibus istis, et
sinite illos: quoniam si est ex hominibus consilium hoc, aut opus,
dissolvetur: si vero ex Deo est, non poteritis dissolvere illud, ne
forte et Deo repugnare inveniamini.
