medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I'm currently reading _The Rise of Magic in Early Medieval Europe_, Valerie
I J. Flint, Princeton UP. Your student may find both the book and its rich
bibliography useful, although there is nary a word about midwives. There is
plenty about the other two topics. There is also some discussion of carved
effigies of parts of the body in need of a cure, a recent thread on this
list...
MG
I donīt know how I managed to miss the thread - what was the title
of the discussion of effigies of body parts in need of a cure? More specifically, was the question addressed of how we tell that they are in *need* of a cure and
not ex votos, thank offerings after a cure?
