yes.

it was presumably bannercarrying which wreaked havoc with some French portals,
especially in later centuries.
trumeaux were removed at many places (including, probably, at Chartres), and
at Angers the lintel(s?) was apparently replaced with an arch in the 17th or
18th c.:
