Hi Sarah,
The JORUM project (of which I'm the technical support and training officer for) don't enforce any strict quality assurance processes. We did quite a bit of research and decided that we would implement a good comments and star rating system to allow users to determine the quality of resources for them selves. One of the main reasons for this is we don't feel we are the right people to judge what makes a good quality object as it depends are far too many things. However JORUM is able to implement different workflows for groups of contributors and what we have discovered is that some projects want a workflow that allows their content to be quality assured by a member of their team before it is uploaded into JORUM, which we have catered for.
Kind Regards
Ryan.

Subject: Issues of quality control
Dear all,
I'm aware that I'm probably opening up a very large can of worms, but having spoken to
academics within this institution, it has become apparent that potential depositors may be
wary of depositing into a digital repository as they fear that a repository that includes
pre-prints may not appear 'credible'.
Has anyone else dealt with this sort of concern, and how you responded to those that have
voiced this concern? Do any repositories exclude items that have not gone through the
peer-review process? If you accept items that have not gone through the peer-review
process, do you apply any forms of quality control on the item?
I'd be very interested to know how others have tackled this issue, so any thoughts or
insights would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Sarah
