Very interesting for the type of philosophical connotations. I agree there
are no natural laws in the social order. But the human animal requires
ethics: Human made social order. otherwise yes it will be alright to shot
each other because we disagree. This is were radical postmodernism mirrors a
self-destructive black hole. Perhaps the luxury of well nurtured individuals
in rich capitalist societies. Postmodernism-pm-, in many of its variants,
provide very provocative ways of looking at things, which is essential for
understanding the world without ever being complaisant. But pm lacks of
élan, something to fight for, because it also lacks of political
philosophy. it eventually paralyses under the spectrum that taking a
position (this may only be using a terminology or language -i.e. we have
seen all the time e.g. people with disabilities or disabled people or
impaired people?) would create a reality that would perfect human oppression
further. In my perspective, there is no chance for any oppressed
category -whatsoever- if postmodernist do not make strategic and reciprocal
alliances with critical modernism. Yes the film is not perfect (what is
perfection anyway?) but it creates a window a possibility for advancing a
cause, a élan, to better human conditions. Postmodernism would not go
further if it turns against the hope of what is the unfinished project of
enlightenment-freedom from oppression. If there is not that strategic
alliances, postmodernist are inevitably perfecting the system of oppression
by eliminating enthusiasm.
