Dear Ralph,
Your search for articles about arts based processes written by artists or
creative practitioners themselves really hits home for me. I am one of
those artist practitioners and in the fifteen years I have been doing this
work together with my wonderfully talented colleagues of Creative Leaps
International, I have written barely a dozen articles on the theory and
practice of our work and these mostly for books collecting papers produced
for research conferences of which we've been a part (The Global Leadership
Conferences in Istanbul, the International Creativity and Innovation
Conferences in Europe and the US, and a few others). I have been urged many
times to write more extensively, but the press of creative activity and
project implementation has always pushed such efforts onto back burners. I
would guess that my circumstances are by no means unique. I have managed
shorter articles for our own CREATIVE LEAPS ejournal on a somewhat more
regular basis, but the major opus remains at best a sketch in a neglected
desk drawer. Needless to say, this state of affairs has weighed heavily on
my pioneer practitioner's conscience, but the truth is, it remains
unresolved even today. That said, I would be glad to share with you my
rather limited output. I do think my colleagues and I have originated an
effective methodology over the years, one rooted in three decades of work in
the education sector with children and teachers. The transfer to adult
learning practices for us was a natural one and that fact has always given
us confidence in the universality of our underlying insights. Do let me
know if I might be of help to you. I congratulate you on your exciting and
much needed initiative. Bravo, my friend!
John
