This event may be of interest of members of this list, as it aims to address
the tensions between early adopters of innovative technologies (Blogs,
WIkis, instant messaging, etc.) and the IT Service providers, who have a
requirement to provide stablke, secrure services.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bookings are now open for the "Initiatives & Innovation: Managing Disruptive
Technologies" Workshop which will be held at the University of Warwick on 24
February 2006.

This workshop, which is being organised by UKOLN, UCISA and CETIS, will seek
to address the challenges being faced by institutions in the move to use of
a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach to development which
underpins the JISC development activities (as part of the JISC E-Framework),
together with the exploitation of new technologies (including technologies
which are sometimes referred to as Web 2.0, mobile devices, etc.).

The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to hear more about
the JISC E-Framework and a case study of involvement in E-Framework
development, together with a case study of how innovative technologies are
being used within institutions and the challenges such approaches may place
on existing approaches to service provision and support. The workshop will
seek to development a framework which will aim to ensure that potentially
disruptive technologies can successfully be absorbed into production services.
