We
--
I walked to the water, but I didn't
touch the water, didn't
drink the water
I walked by the water, along, near,
above the water, but not
in the water.
Baptise me.
Drown me, resurrect me in worldwash.
Wash me real.
Fill me, don't leave any
space in me, let me drink your
stumbling stars. Let me drink your rain.
***
Our rain on the water.
Our stumbling stars dive into us.
Glow through our skin,
shine in our eyes,
pour fizzing from our mouths,
come dancing from our hands in a rainstar dance
by the water.
Let rains and stars dive into us
and find our peaceful place, our
elderly water-framed building and let
them smash it, smithereen it, scatter it,
rebuild it, reshape it, a new
artefact with an ancient spirit
twisting, spiralling, stairing
irresistibly into the sky.
Let them put their piece
of sky in us in our water place.
Never quite perfect,
irrefutable, undeniable,
resonant with rains and stars.
***
Bleed heaven on me -- build a haven for me.
May the moon
be part of you.
May lunacy
meet serendipity.
May the stars
inhabit you.
May heaven bleed on you,
make holy love to you.
***
May heaven bleed on us,
make holy love to us.
Irrefutable, undeniable.
***
May the rain wet us.
May the sun tan us.
May the stars blink at us.
May the walls
not hold us, roof
not restrict us. Let our
noises, voices, choices
sky the weeping earth.
May the rain wrap us
May the sun swaddle us
May the stars enclose us
May the sky
be high enough, ice
thick enough, rope
strong enough.
Let us all be there together
when the rain rains on us
when the sun shines on us
when the stars shiver us
when the water rises up to meet us.
