2	WELSH ASSEMBLY GOVERNMENT

Review of Lottery Good Causes Post 2009
Following a series of reviews and changes to the good causes of Charitable
Expenditure and Health, Education and the Environment, which have culminated
in the establishment of the Big Lottery Fund, the Department of Culture,
Media and Sport (DCMS) announced their intention to review the remaining
good causes funded by the National Lottery earlier this year.

That review, termed the Review of Lottery Good Causes Post 2009, was
launched on 25th November 2005 and covers the good causes of:
*	Arts and Film;
*	Sport;
*	Heritage.

The Welsh Assembly Government will be running five awareness sessions in
relation to the review during January. During the sessions we will be
explaining the issues surrounding the review and seeking your views on the
future of Lottery funding in Wales for the good causes concerned. An agenda
for the sessions is attached.

The sessions will be held on the following dates:
*	26th January - Big Pit, Blaenafon (10am - 12.30pm)
*	30th January - National Botanic Garden For Wales (1pm - 3.30pm)
*	31st January - National Library (10am - 12.30pm)
*	9th February - Deeside College, Flintshire (1pm - 3.30pm)
*	10th February - Galleri, Caernarfon (10am - 12.30pm)

If you are interested in attending please contact Ruth Hughes at the Welsh
Assembly Government at [log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> or on 029 2080 1336. In doing so we
would be grateful if you could indicate which of the breakout sessions you
would like to attend.

Please note that because of limited places on the sessions, we cannot
guarantee that everyone interested will be able to attend the session of
their choice. Furthermore, unless you have confirmed your attendance we
will not be able to accommodate you.

The consultation document and questionnaire are available on the DCMS
website at www.lottery2009.culture.gov.uk
<http://www.lottery2009.culture.gov.uk> accompanied by information detailing
what Lottery funding has achieved to date and what the distributors think it
should be used to fund in the future.

This is your opportunity to tell the policy makers and the distributors
where you think funding within those good causes should be directed.
