Dear List
Considering English Heritage recently scheduled Brandy Bottom Colliery and
are in the process of scheduling Ram Hill Colliery recognising an ongoing
need to protect such structures, it would be madness to say the least for
CADW to grant consent for demoition of an already scheduled engine house.
Enough unprotected structures (i.e. neither listed nor scheduled) are being
demolished. Getting "protection" from them is to say the least a hassle,
and a somewhat two edged sword. If a developer can get consent to demolish
a building because it is cheaper than preserving it then it makes a mockery
of the whole system (which is pretty poor anyway).
Perhaps the various mining history groups could write letters of support to
the WMPT objecting to the proposal.

David
