This is the second call for papers for the session:
PLACES, BODIES, HEALTH: LANDSCAPES OF KNOWLEDGE AND POWER
RSG-IBG Annual International Conference 2006, 30th August – 1st
September 2006
This session intends to bring together health, social, and cultural
geographers to discuss and extend the critical potential
of scholarship concerned with the socio-political construction of
‘healthy spaces’ and ‘healthy bodies.’ Recent work shows interesting
points of engagement between the therapeutic landscape tradition in
health geography, critical public health geography, and feminist work on
subjectivity and emotions in the analysis of ‘healthy space’ and
embodied practices of health. This session aims to generate discussion
on the productive links between such subdisciplinary interests in
pursuing the differential experience, occupation and construction of
healthy space and healthy bodies at various spatial scales.
