Hi All,
I've been away walking over Easter - so just catching up with CRUMB.
I initially visualised the Nodes as not just nodes of activity but of
access - publicising free wireless internet across London - but this
wasn't very clear in the publicity or actual event. Was this important
to you?
Talking of Nodes in relation to the communication patterns of art -
activism and social engagement being discussed on this list:
There are many parallels between socially engaged and new media art in
developing working structures for creative projects. Perhaps a
significant difference is that socially engaged art attempts to work
with a community of interest outside of itself - whereas new media
projects strengthen the 'internal' network, the community of users.
The result is that socially engaged artists are poorly networked both
with each other, and with new media discourse; and that new media arts
discourse is well developed but finds it difficult to engage in long
term relationships with a wider audience?
Do you think Node London started to address some of these problems?
