We are seeking outstanding candidates for two Postdoctoral Research
Associate openings as part of a new chemical imaging initiative in the
Nanoscience and Chemistry Departments at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
The project explores new approaches for studying photocatalytic reactions
on supported nanoparticles with spectroscopic chemical specificity, sub-
nanometer spatial and sub-picosecond temporal resolution by coupling
ultrafast optical pulses into a new state-of-the-art UHV low-temperature
STM. Both positions require a Ph.D. in chemistry, physics or a related
field. One position requires experience in UHV low-temperature
spectroscopic STM; experience in preparing oxide surfaces and supported
metal nanoparticles is a plus. The second position requires experience in
the application of ultrafast laser techniques to chemical physics
problems, including expertise in the design and construction of opto-
mechanical systems for manipulation of short pulses; experience in UHV
surface science is a plus. Submit applications [CV, publication list,
brief (< 1 page) statement of research interests] to the project
directors, Dr. P. Sutter ([log in to unmask]; low-T STM) or Dr. N. Camillone
([log in to unmask]; ultrafast).
