Apologies for cross posting 

Our exciting programme of business and management skills training courses 
for 2006 starts in just omne week's time!   We are still taking bookings 
for our April or May courses, each of which are held at the Manchester 
Business School, provided by leading experts in their field and include 
refreshments and a three course lunch. 
  
Prices have been held down for another year, full day courses are £250 
(concessions £215) or £125 on the half day courses!

Wednesday 26 April 
Advanced Internet Search Strategies: searching beyond Google 
10am-5pm

THIS COURSE IS FULLY BOOKED BUT WILL RUN AGAIN ON THURSDAY 14 SEPTEMBER.

With the major search engines claiming coverage of up to and over 20 
billion web pages in their databases, it is becoming increasingly 
difficult to locate relevant information.    Google is not the only search 
tool and the competition is hotting up. This workshop looks at recent 
developments at Google and the alternatives, especially the new kids on 
the block. Delegates will have ample opportunity to test out advanced 
search techniques and to compare different search engines. There will also 
be sessions on blogs and RSS feeds, and help on tracking down audio, video 
and podcasts of news broadcasts and interviews. A significant part of the 
day will be taken up with practical sessions; exercises will be provided 
but delegates are free to try out searches of their own. 
  
  
Wednesday 3 May (morning) 
Copyright: staying legal 
10am-12.30pm 
£125 
Course leader: Paul Pedley 
A morning session for anyone who needs to ensure that their information 
service is copyright compliant. The workshop is designed for those who 
already have a good basic understanding of current copyright law. On 
completing the course, delegates will b e aware of the key issues in 
copyright compliance, u nderstand how to minimise the legal risks, k now 
what constitutes good practice and h ave a number of practical tips and 
suggestions for respecting the rights of the creators and distributors of 
intellectual property

Electronic Copyright: an overview 
10am-5pm 
£125 
Course leader: Paul Pedley 
Paul's course provides a basic overview of the issues involved in 
electronic copyright. It considers whether the law treats digital content 
differently to hard copy content, and ? if so ? how? On completing the 
course, delegates will h ave gained a good understanding of the copyright 
problems caused by new technology, h ave a clearer understanding of how 
far the legislation addresses these problems, have tested their knowledge 
of electronic copyright with a number of examples and case studies 
  
  
Wednesday 24 May 
Ethical Influencing: an introduction 
10am-5pm 
£250/£215* 
Course leader: Keith Trickey 
Have you ever watched your colleagues or managers walk into a mess simply 
because you were unable or unwilling to make your voice heard? A problem, 
that was obvious to you and could have been avoided. Have you ever been 
?oversold? by a colleague and been effectively silenced in decision-making 
process? Then it is time you developed your own approach to influencing: 
this day will help you make an ethical start. This one day course explores 
the art of influencing and being influenced appropriately in the 
workplace. Includes the use of both verbal and non-verbal techniques to 
influence communication and avoid being inappropriately influenced. The 
course includes time for discussing specific work related examples.
