Dear All,
This concerns NESLi reps/institutions that use Serials Solutions AMS Service
SS are considering enhancing their product so that institutions can carry out global edits necessary, for example as in the case of BPL 2006 issues, to update their holdings records accordingly rather than having to amend the coverage dates individually. Of small comfort I know....
On another note, I contacted SS and informed them that for 2006 the LSE would be taking advantage of Elsevier's subject collections, rather than subscribing to the Freedom Collection. Of course I wanted to know when these newly available subject databases would be available in the SS client centre for us to select to reflect our 2006 subscriptions. So far the response from SS is that we will have to select each individual title as they currently do not track these subject databases. Obviously I've gone back to SS about this but wondered if any institutions are in a similar situation?

Yes, we also fell foul of this. The penny dropped when Blackwell asked me if I was paying through Content Complete or Swets. I didn't think I had a choice. I cannot see any advantage to the publisher in this payment model since they end up with the same amount of money in the end. The disadvantage is entirely ours and I would urge Nesli2 to re-consider this model before next year.

This almost happened to us until I was advised by my contact
at SwetsWise about ordering through Content Complete. Not
wanting to have to go through a similar scenario which Sandra
describes and also pay £1 per title to have our journals hosted
on SwetsWise (£748 I believe ) we decided to stick with Swets
and forgo the discount. Both the discount and charges from
Swets worked out around the same cost to us in any case so we
were stymied.
I would like to point out that this information is available for us
to read within the offer to NESLI2 (yes, I missed this initially)
but there is just so much to take in sometimes its hardly
surprising we get confused.

Hello
Just to highlight yet another complication in the world of ejournals.
We ordered and paid for the Blackwell NESLI2 deal via Content Complete but
we now realise that we will not get online access to the 2006 onwards years
via our usual agent site Swetswise, unless we pay them £1 per title which
would negate all the discount. This of course causes us another nightmare to
edit our ejournals database/webpages and then try to explain to our
customers the reasoning! It was not a consequent complication that came to
mind during all the urgent complex cancellation/substitution deliberations
and ordering.
Did anyone else fall foul of this situation?
