Rian -
Fernando Bea has written (along with Pilar Montero) at least a couple of
papers where he
discusses REE element variation in garnet. In some cases, the samples are
referred to as
"migmatites", but in others the garnet-bearing samples are referred to as
"granites" or
"peraluminous granites", and may be of help to you.
I am away from my office at the moment, but if memory serves, one of the
papers is a 1996 JPet
manuscript (he is the sole author), and the other paper that comes to
mind is a Geochimica paper
he wrote along with Montero (perhaps someone else, as well?) that was
published in 1999, I
think. This paper dealt with the stronalite-kinzigite transition in the
Ivrea-Verbano zone, if I
recall correctly.
He also wrote a Chemical Geology (1994?) paper where there is some
LA-ICP-MS data on REE in
garnet; again, these are either migmatites or peraluminous granites.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Joe

Greetings All
I am currently doing a study on trace and REE zoning patterns in
igneous garnet and how this relates to isotope geochron. I have been
able to find a number of papers concerning REE zoning in met garnet but
I have drawn a blank when it comes to the REE systematics in Igneous
garnet. Could anyone suggest any papers which may have REE and trace
element zoning descriptions from igneous garnet.
Cheers
