Have any other users of this assay seen any high fliers recently?
We have discovered a significant number (n=10) of such cases in the last few months were the initial FT4 result is well above the top of the reference interval (some greater than) 50 pM) and the corresponding TSH value is normal ---- upon repeat, the FT4 values fall within the reference interval (less than 22.0 pM)
As a result we have been forced to introduce repeat testing for all those samples with FT4 values greater than 20 pM.
Fliers have been seen on 3 separate instruments, on two separate sites and with different batches of reagent.
We are unsure as to the cause.
