Dennis
You are lucky but check your data quality.
Our PIMS system sends down ethnic group data to Telepath - how do you
handle such ethnic groups as 'British' with obviously non Caucasian
surnames and forenames.
We intend to do single calculation and advise on correction to be
applied if black African or African-Carribean.
Mixed races - VERY difficult.
Help please from others.
We have been trying to set up the calculation in our PGP V5 interface
system for some months as seemed easier than in the Telepath2000 LIMS.
Still not working and not sure why. Any ideas or suggestions ?

Our Cerner Millennium LIMS is populated from our PAS with a field
denoting a
patient's ethnicity; the potential options are tabulated below. I
assume the
phrase African-Caribbean in the DH documents map to options 3 and 4,
and
common sense says also to option 5.
Is there any guidance or informed view as to how we should handle the
mixed
ethnic group options, i.e does a mixed - white/ black African have the
ethnicity correction of 1.21 applied (or even potentially apply a
correction
halfway between 1.21 and 1.00!)
