Dear Angela,
A concrete sum from Hungary would be of little relevance to you, I would
rather consider the units to be paid for:
1/ per hour is the simplest, if you are trusted not to overstate the time.
2/ per piece (easily checked in your database) is another option.
3/ per box/bag is trickier, because you cannot predict the degree of
fragmentation or ammount of extra time spent measuring too well preserved
bones.
The absolute price should be raised if you have to write inventory numbers on
each piece, or travel around with odd bones to several collections.
I am trying to promote an important principle as well: Always charge some
extra (again depending on the local rates) for writing up at least a short report
as part of your assignment. I think this elevates our job above the level of
"technicians'" work.
What do you think?
Best wishes, Laszlo
