Adrian,
What's missing is an online space - a blog? - to provide a hub for the
community.
These mailing lists don't really serve the needs we have. Such a space
would then provide a platform for events. For instance: local meetings,
conferences of interest, etc.
UKOLN is the centre of our community. In fact, I'd argue that there
would be no community without them (ie without IWMW). What about setiing
up an IWMW (or IWM) blog that we could all register with and post to?

Subject: More IWMW please?
Hi Institutional Web Community
I think those of us who made it to IWMW 2006
(http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/web-focus/events/workshops/webmaster-2006/)
really enjoyed it this year (and ace job by Marieke on her first year at
the helm).
This years discussion topic was collaboration and, as Owen Stephens
notes in his blog:
"The IWMW is a great forum for communicating with peers - but I lack
that contact for the rest of the year. It might be just me, but I think
we need to change this"
I know many agree with this view but there's clearly a lack of time and
resources to set these things up.
It strikes me that in the e-learning world they have many more events
and meetings (such as all those CETIS special interest groups). Would
it be possible to get funding for more Institutional Web events?
Perhaps we need a few more acronyms to get the funding (Marieke and
UKOLN can only do so much).
Any ideas?
Adrian
