Hi
I am a tour guide for a company that organises differently themed "Harry
Potter" tours from America to the UK. They are once in a lifetime experience
tours for people - a bit like us going to Disneyland.
I am specifically involved with the science tours and I have been requested
to develop an adult themed lecture tour, most likely around London and
Oxford and I am looking for museum curators, science communicators or
lecturers who would be able give talks and hold small table discussions (10
-15 people) that tie into Harry Potter. You would receive a fee for your
time.
Specifically, the ideas so far include:
- History and Mythology of Magicians such as Merlin, King Arthur...History
of Alchemy could also fit in
- History and links between Astronomy and Astrology...
- A visit to an observatory to show how astronomy is carried out followed by
discussion with astronomer..
- Birds of Prey
- Herbology
- Illusions
However, as this is still in development stage so any other suitable ideas
would not be ruled out.
I envisage these lectures to take place in locations that will also grab the
tours interest such as museums, observatories, colleges...so if you had
access to lecture rooms in such places that would be an advantage.
I am looking for people who are confident, high quality, engaging speakers.
An interest in Harry Potter is needed as the people on the tour will know a
lot about the books!
Anyone who is interested please email me at [log in to unmask] and we
can discuss further.
Kind Regards
Katherine
