Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right list to send this request to. If it
turns out not to be, I apologise in advance...
About 15 years ago, when I was a full time researcher, I worked in the
States for one of the groups that first solved the structure of HIV
protease. My boss in that lab, who is now a friend, is thinking of
organising a small scientific meeting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of
that structure in 2008 (a milestone for both structure-based drug
discovery and HIV treatment). But he has no official funding for this and
has turned to me as a "professional science communicator" for advice.
Do any of you have any suggestions of organisations that I might approach
for funding for this project? There would obviously be interest in such a
meeting from the public but the meeting is most likely to take the
traditional research conference formatwith greater than average input from
industry and from clinical medicine. And (if this is relevant) the meeting
is most likely (although not certain) to take place in the US.
Thanks very much in advance!
Best wishes
