Parsons, a division of The New School and one of the largest and
leading schools of art and design in North America, seeks an Associate
Dean to join the senior leadership team in the Dean's office. This
position reports to the Dean and works in close collaboration with
external academic/development partners and University offices to
represent Parsons' academic, fiscal, and operational priorities. As
such, the successful candidate will play a key role in guiding the
school's strategic planning agenda, especially in relation to
entrepreneurial projects and partnerships.

The Associate Dean is also responsible for having broad oversight over
the day to day management of the school and supervises a team of
Directors and Associate Deans to strategically target new market
opportunities, enhance Parsons' academic and professional reputation,
and deliver quality educational programs.

Responsibilities
-Oversees the strategic and logistical planning of the School's
academic development and enrollment growth management in collaboration
with University officers
-Supervises the Associate Deans of the Media, Materials, Methods and
Theory Colleges, once appointed, and the Associate Dean Educational
Programs, the Exhibitions Director and the Director of International
Partnerships
-Oversees the selection and development of the school's academic and
development partnerships
-Liaises with University officers on the academic operational concerns
related to implementing the Academic Plan
-Identifies and translates potential development opportunities within
the Academic Plan for the Development Office
-Leads and defines the academic entrepreneurial activities that arise
from development opportunities, by forming and steering the
project-specific teams
-Represents Parsons on national and international educational
organizations (NASAD, AICAD etc)
-Oversees day to day management of the Associate Dean's and Directors
of the Dean's Office (APO, Educational Programs, Budget and Operations)

-Works with the Senior Associate Dean for Operations to ensure the
planning, implementation and delivery of educational programs
-Works with the Director of International Partnerships to initiate and
formalize institutional relationships with academic institutions
including: joint degrees, exchanges and articulation agreements.

Qualifications and Competencies
-Relevant Master's degree or equivalent required
-Substantial management and supervision experience in academic
institutions
-Demonstrated mentoring and/or leadership skills; ability to delegate
tasks in an efficient and effective manner
-Contemporary understanding of the pedagogical issues shaping
educational practices
-Experience with initiating and managing entrepreneurial agendas and
activities
-Demonstrated ability to both plan strategically and keep track of
everyday concerns, the ability to work between macro/micro levels of
operation
-Excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to work well
under pressure and with discretion and diplomacy
-Commitment to work collaboratively and productively with diverse
constituencies
-Experience in negotiating competing agendas; creative problem solving
skills in reconciling operational, fiscal and academic concerns
-Demonstrated ability to take initiative, see possibilities and the
independence to follow through
-Broad understanding of the professional issues surrounding the art and
design fields of practice
-Engaged interest in the socio-natural and political concerns informing
art and design practice
-Time and project management skills
-Experience working in or with international educational institutions
or clients a plus
-Experience with international/national educational organizations such
as NASAD/AICAD a plus
