Position Objectives:
* The Banff New Media Institute (BNMI) plays a unique role in the
world of Canadian and International new media, television, video, and
research. BNMI’s Co-production program is devoted to creative
pluralism. We support high-quality and high-risk creative projects.
The BNMI Co-production program is a production-based residency program
with a number of different components ranging from creative think tank
sessions, visualization and collaboration research laboratories, and
post production facilities to hands on convergent media production
time, mentorship and networking opportunities. We foster exchange,
debate, discussion and uninhibited artistic exploration. The
connections and points of departure related to art, technology,
knowledge, communities of practice and cultures are continuously
explored. Co-production labs are a workplace that emphasizes production
integrated with different kinds of learning experiences and the
realization of contemporary new media work and research. The
Co-production program directly assists professional development by
providing a supportive and generative environment in which participants
can extend and develop their practice and knowledge, and establish new
contexts for presentation and critical reception. Our commitment to

Responsibilities:
As the Production Coordinator you would be responsible for the planning
and implementation of all Co-productions programming including
television, video and new media production management at the project
level, budget and resource management, partnership development,
outreach and communications. These responsibilities are achieved
through:
* Negotiation and scheduling of resource support (logistics,
facilities, technology and personnel)
* Ensuring that the BNMI attracts high level, creatively rigorous
applicants
* Developing and maintaining an active outreach and recruitment
process that has a national and international reach into a broad range
of artist and research communities
* Working directly with Co-production partners including Peer
Advisors, Jurors and Funders
* Working with the BNMI Director on curriculum development and
delivery
* Management of the Co-production process from the initial stages
of application through to completion of production, evaluation
documentation
* Preparing project activity and financial reports, proposals,
funding applications and status reports
* Managing and reconciling a budget of up to $300,000.00
* Negotiating, pre-production planning, scope of work contracts and
resource allocations
* Day to day guidance of staff and workstudies
* A deep engagement with the evolving field of new media and
artistic practice and research
Qualifications:
* To be suitable for this opportunity, you will have passion for
new media. You must be proficient working in an artistic needs driven
environment and have an interest in being part of a team that advances
the creative development and research capacity of BNMI participants.
We are seeking a multi-talented and self-motivated individual with
excellent production management skills with proven experience in media
production and resource management and in major project management
activities. You will have knowledge of video or multimedia production
processes both on the technical and content sides, production and post.
Experience working with production based software applications and an
understanding of open source culture is an asset. Excellent
organizational and interpersonal communication skills, sound judgment,
and the ability to respond strategically to evolving program dynamics
and institutional resources are all essential requirements of this
position. Demonstrated planning experience is important. You will be
detail oriented and have proven experience in budget management,
records management and administrative accountability. You must possess
the ability to work well within a team environment and under pressure
of deadlines.
This is a CUPE local 4318 support staff position, with a six month
probationary period and twelve month term.
This position pays $2,689.38/month and $2,986.75/month after probation,
working up to 35 hours per week.
