The Department of Chemistry at DePaul University is seeking to fill a
tenure track position in experimental physical chemistry. The Department
is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, which despite the
size of the overall University, retains much of the character of a small
liberal arts college, with an emphasis placed on teaching excellence. The
following ad will also appear in C&E News over the next two weeks. Please
pass this around to any interested colleagues.
CHEMISTRY FACULTY POSITION – DEPAUL UNIVERSITY
The Department of Chemistry at DePaul University invites applications for
a tenure-track position in experimental physical chemistry at the rank of
Assistant Professor beginning in Autumn, 2007. Candidates should possess
a Ph.D. in physical chemistry and be interested in teaching and conducting
research at the B.S. and M.S. levels in a liberal arts environment that
emphasizes close faculty-student interaction. The ACS-certified chemistry
department at DePaul offers B.S. degrees in chemistry, biochemistry, and
environmental chemistry as well as a B.A. in chemistry. At the graduate
level, DePaul offers several options for a M.S. in chemistry and
biochemistry. DePaul University emphasizes teaching excellence.
Successful candidates will be expected to teach not only physical
chemistry at both the undergraduate and graduate level (including labs)
but also chemistry at the introductory level and for non-science majors.
Successful candidates need also show a willingness to teach courses in
appropriate interdisciplinary programs. The department has modern
instrumentation to support both teaching needs and most areas of research
interest. Send resume, a statement of education philosophy, an outline of
research interests, and three letters of reference to Dr. Richard F.
