I say, Derick,
How frightfully offensive - is this email etiquette? ;-0
There is a copy of a speech on The Right to Offend by the dissident Ayaan Hirsi Ali on www.welt.de/z/plog/blog.php/the_free_west/the_free_wests_weblog [etc.].
I should add that it was faxed to me from St Helier, that other den of free-thinking liberal democratic iniquity in darkest Surrey. You have been warned.
Hopefully shaking but at least gently stirring,
Gordon (EP).

Well none of you let your poor cataloguers out of their
dungeons/cupboards/dusty old attics, in time to answer this for me.
Still it is Friday and I suppose being a sunny day the poor things would
have been temporarily blinded and besides which they haven't had their
bucket of fish heads yet, (obscure Simpson's reference for you there).
The answer is to use subfield h which is for denoting the medium (or
should that be media).
Please if anyone ever reads this and thinks I'm wrong let me know...
(and if my sarcasm offends anyone who did actually answer please for
forgive me, our fascistic firewall can hold up emails for up to 24 hours

Subject: Cataloguing advice
Hello cataloguers. I was after a bit of advice and although I could look
through the 8,000 chapters or so of Anglo-American cataloguing rules or
bury myself in the 98 different versions of MARC but they're usually
about as clear as mud and I was hoping to get clarification from this
list.
I'm in the process of putting our online only journals on to our
catalogue. Now I'm aware that I need to differentiate that the title is
online only. I've had a look at other peoples catalogue records and the
U.K convention appears to be to put (Online) after the title in the 245
title field, but I'm unsure if I need to do this using a | (pipe).
I know for a subtitle it's |b and in US MARC (from what I can gather)
you should use |h and then [electronic resource]. So what's the rule for
UK marc?
All advice gratefully received.
