ALPSP International Learned Journals Seminar - The New Publishers

Scholarly publishing is changing - will you be affected? While some of the
existing players are consolidating, new and different ones are appearing.
Other members of the information chain are taking on roles which have
traditionally belonged to publishers, sometimes with completely new business
This event is a must for anyone who wants to wake up and smell the coffee -
book now while places are still available!
The keynote will be delivered by Mary Waltham, followed by presentations
from Michele Sabto (Monash) and Greg Tananbaum (Berkeley) on developments at
university presses. Gerard van Westrienen (SURF), Mark Thorley (NERC) and
Rachel Bruce (JISC) will consider the new funding models and Keith Jeffery
(CCLRC) and JL Needham (Google) will discuss the new ways of reaching
information. The discussion panel will give an overview of developments
worldwide with Rui Zhou, Pippa Smart, Barbara Kirsop and Jacek Ciesielski.
Finally, Adam Hodgkin will sum up the day's discussions with some
considerations for publishers to take home about how they should be
