LIS-LINKers with an interest in Web 2.0 technologies may be interested in
the following workshop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------
Bookings are open for the "Initiatives & Innovation: Managing Disruptive
Technologies" Workshop which will be held at the University of Warwick on 24
February 2006.
This workshop, which is being organised by UKOLN, UCISA and CETIS, will seek
to address the challenges being faced by institutions in the exploitation
of new technologies (including technologies which are sometimes referred to
as Web 2.0, mobile devices, etc.). The workshop will also address the
challenges to be faced in the move to use of a Service Oriented Architecture
(SOA) approach to development which underpins the JISC development
activities (under the name of E-Framework).
The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to hear more about
the E-Framework and a case study of involvement in E-Framework development,
together with a case study of how innovative technologies are being used
within institutions and the challenges such approaches may place on existing
approaches to service provision and support. The workshop will seek to
development a framework which will aim to ensure that potentially disruptive
technologies can successfully be absorbed into production
services.
