** Collections of the Month: Somerville and Ross **
This month we celebrate the writers Edith Somerville (1858-1949) and Violet Martin (1862-1915), who wrote together as Somerville and Ross, and are best known for their popular comic tales of the 'Irish R.M.' The papers of Edith Somerville in the collection illustrate the collaborative nature of their work and also include an extensive range of correspondence giving interesting insights to the lives of their milieu, many years of correspondence between Ethel Smyth, the noted British composer, and Edith Somerville for example.
