Are your users getting to your electronic resources?
The JISC Information Environment Service Registry (IESR) can help.
The IESR (http://iesr.ac.uk/) is:
* a shared infrastructure service
* designed to act as a source of up-to-date information about electronic resources
The IESR describes resources that are:
* useful for research, teaching and learning
* in the JISC Information Environment (and beyond)
The details within the Registry can be used by developers of portals and other applications to tailor services for their own users (cross-searches of resources, for example). The Registry can also be searched via its website. The inclusion of your resource in the registry will enable more people to become aware of it, leading to increased use.
JISC's commitment to further development of the Registry has been demonstrated by the recent decision to fund the service until July 2009. As the Registry develops, its usefulness will be determined by the participation and involvement of providers of electronic resources.
To include your resources you will need to provide information about them via an online form. This includes a description of the content of the resource and the technical details of how to access it. The IESR team will provide assistance in the creation of quality descriptions. To find out more please see our 'Be Included' section (http://iesr.ac.uk/be-included/).
We look forward to hearing from you (and apologies for cross posting).
Regards, the IESR team
