The Land Registry holds the world's largest property database (approximately
£1 million worth of property is processed every minute) and aims to be the
global leader for guaranteeing ownership of land. The database, which
produces a wide range of reports and data sets, is entirely computerised:
one of the Government's few IT successes. It also won Computer Weekly's Best
Places to Work Award!
Peter will introduce the Registry's services and discuss the issues involved
in making a database of this size electronically accessible. He will also
talk about the development of new commercial services, including
e-conveyancing.
Peter Collis is Chief Land Registrar and Chief Executive of Land Registry.
He is an honorary member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and
a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute. He has also been made a
Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath.
Members preparing themselves for CILIP Chartership, Revalidation or
Certification will find this talk particularly useful.
CILIP in London evening meetings are free and open to all with a
professional interest in the topic. Refreshments will be available
afterwards. As space is limited, please let us know if you are coming. It
would be helpful to tell us how you found out about the event.
