FORTHCOMING EVENT: LIRG Workshop on Publishing Research
WHEN: Thursday July 20th, 11am-4pm

Humanities, Law and Social Science, Manchester Metropolitan
University. Map and directions available at:
http://www.mmu.ac.uk/about/locations/allsaints.php
COST: GBP 50 (includes buffet lunch)
TOPIC:
You may already have completed some research, and be wondering
how exactly to write it up and publish it. Or your research may
be at earlier stage of planning. This workshop will help you along
the bumpy, exciting and personally and professionally (but probably
not financially) rewarding road to publication. It will help you
to explore possible outlets for you work, and to explore writing
for different audiences. It will cast light on the sometimes obscure
world of the gatekeepers to publication, the referees and the editors.
There will be input on these topics. But mainly there will be support
and encouragement to plan and write plan and review and edit, working
with colleagues on the day.
"Anon (paraphrasing Red Smith): 'Writing is easy. Just stare at the
computer until beads of blood form on your forehead." (from
http://www.mamohanraj.com/Writing/w-quotes.html).
We'll try to make it a little easier than this!
