ALISS Christmas Special : Libraries and open access scholarship

On 11th December ALISS (Association of Librarians and Information Professionals in the Social Sciences) http://www.lse.ac.uk/library/other_sites/aliss/ the independent UK based Librarians special interest group will be holding a half day conference on the topical issue of Libraries and open access Scholarship in the British Library Conference Centre.
We have 3 speakers who will each deliver 30-45 minute presentations on different aspects of the topic.
The subject areas covered will be:
* An overview of recent developments in open access archives in higher education and the challenges and opportunities that these offer information workers. Jessie Hey Digital Repositories Research Fellow, University of Southampton.
* A discussion of the work of the VERSIONS project which is addressing the issues and uncertainties relating to versions of academic papers in digital repositories, with a particular focus on the discipline of economics. Frances Shipsey and Louise Allsop. London School of Economics and Political Science
* An introduction to the UK Electronic Theses On-line Service (EThOS) which aims to create a prototype national online service for online delivery of Phd theses. Anthony Troman, Project Development Manager, British Library
