Information professionals may think they have established a good process
for sourcing information products and often assume they are already getting
the best deal. However using RFPs to establish a level playing field
between suppliers within the framework of a proven sourcing process, will
increase the best deal with the most suitable provider.
Based on her two articles co-authored with Susan Montgomery, recently
published by Information Outlook, “7 Steps for Sourcing Information
Products” and “How to write and RFP for Information Products”, Helen Clegg
and Rowan Atkins will present participants with a tried and tested sourcing
methodology and outline the main elements to include when drawing up a
successful request for proposal. The presentation will include an online
demonstration of A.T. Kearney’s e-sourcing tool.
