UKeiG Course: eInformation for e-Science

Course Outline
This practical one day training event is designed to provide Information
Professionals with an introduction on resources and services for Science.
Support for scientific research often entails dealing with a complex number
of disciplines (from bio-infomatics to earth sciences to physics); a vast
array of activities (from computational systems, scientific instruments and
databases to sensor networks) and use of a broad collection of resources
(from journal literature to reprints). Keeping up to date can be a full
time job. This course has been designed to bring you up to speed with new
resources, critique existing ones and highlight developments (including e-
Science) within this ever changing field.

. What criteria do you use? Top bibliographic databases in Science
compared
. What would you use? Internet search engines for Science
. Different shades of Grey : What ePrint services would you choose?

Who should attend
This workshop will be of benefit to Information Professional managing
Higher Education Science libraries as well as those in science-based public
and private sector organisations.
Course Presenters: Tracy Kent, Physics and Computer Science Subject
Librarian, University of Birmingham and Elizabeth Tilley, Earth Sciences
Librarian. University of Cambridge. Tracy and Elizabeth are experienced,
subject librarians who have over two decades of experience in the
Information Profession providing day to day support for academics and
researchers.

may be made at any time without additional cost. UKeiG reserves the right
to cancel a course if insufficient bookings have been received. Delegates
will be offered an alternative date or a full refund of the course fee.
UKeiG reserves the right to make changes to the programme. UKeiG will not
be liable for any consequential loss of travel or accommodation fees due to
