Hi All,
Oh dear....
We ordered some CILIP posters for the libraries (which haven't yet
arrived) but in the interim did our own poster which we cobbled together
using the guidance that first came out from NLH with bits of our LIHNN
booklet. We duly advised all in sundry that they needed to display a
poster next to their copiers. Many have contacted us for details. I
have given information about the CILIP posters but sent them ours as a
stopgap. I haven't seen the CILIP posters but imagine that ours will
look very similar - how could it not when we are essentially pushing the
same message out ?
Now, if David is right, I have to worry about having infringed their
copyright. As a mild to middling claustrophobic I just hope my next
email isn't from Holloway.
PS If you are sending a cake with file in, I prefer coffee flavour

Dear all,
Have been in Preston all afternoon - so only just catching up with all
of this from home.
I'm not yet sure who / which Dept of DH the guidance has come from - but
it has been created by the legal team advising the National Knowledge
Service which is part of Connecting for Health.
I know that it doesn't match up to expectations in some areas; I saw it
for the first time yesterday afternoon and expected there to be a
blizzard of emails. However, it's the best we've got and it's clearly up
to senior staff in Trusts to weigh up the alternatives and decide
whether to go for a licence or not.
Posters - yes, it's a good idea to have a north west one (or even a
national NHS one). I've seen a couple of examples so far - the problem -
believe it or not - is that they are so close to the CILIP one - that
they may infringe copyright! I'll follow this up tomorrow when I'm back
in the office.
Please remember to let me know if your Trust does take a licence - I
know of two PCTs that have, plus one mental health and two acute Trusts
that are considering it - but have not heard about any others.
David

Hello,
Is there scope here for the Northwest to produce a Copyright poster
(quickly!!) that reflects the 'guidance' and where we stand now if the
Trust decides not to buy a licence? Something that perhaps mirrors what
the CILIP poster says and which can be reproduced as many times as is
required by each Trust, so one can be displayed at each and every copier
as suggested?
Something on publisher maybe?
It must be cheaper than everyone buying the CILIP version and better
than us all spending time creating our own?
Has someone done this already and be willing to share their version of a
poster?
Cheryl.
