FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Journal of Psychopharmacology - Special Issues on Ecstasy
SAGE Publications Ltd, London, 1st March 2006 - Journal of
Psychopharmacology is delighted to be publishing ground-breaking
research papers into the effects of the recreational drug Ecstasy on
users. The publication of this research will be spread over two issues,
starting with Volume 20, No.2 from March 2006.
Research has shown that recreational Ecstasy/MDMA users can display a
wide range of psychobiological deficits, which are attributable to a
wide range of factors. These are explored in more detail within this
publication.
The papers published include research into the long-term effects of
Ecstasy on users, as well as the effects cannabis can have on the
psychobiological profiles of co-drug users. These Special Issues also
explore the effects that prolonged dancing can have on the memory,
showing that those who report prolonged dancing report more memory
problems than those who dance intermittently.
One important premise is that whilst using stimulant drugs while dancing
vigorously in hot and noisy environments may acutely boost moods while
clubbing, this may lead to more problems in the longer term.
