Hi Nicola,
There is no requirement for your Stage 2 supervisor to be located in your area. The majority of supervision can be conducted using telephone and email, with several face-to-face meetings per year. You would need someone at your workplace (presumably your line manager) to agree to be your workplace contact, to sign off that you have been doing the work that you are planning to present in your portfolio, but all Stage 2 related supervision would be conducted with your approved supervisor. If you would like to discuss this option in more detail I would suggest that you contact Dr Mark Forshaw (Chief Supervisor and Registrar for Stage 2) on [log in to unmask]

Subject: Problem Finding Stage 2 Supervisor
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the stage 2 health
psychology. I am currently in a very good position to do my stage 2 in that
I gained a commendation for my stage 1, I am currently doing a health
related PhD, and I am working within an Oncology unit as part of my
research. My only problem is that there are no stage 2 supervisors within
my area. Is there another way to go about gaining the stage 2? For
example, are there other ways in which the supervision can take place, such
as through email, phone, post? I know this would not be the conventional
route, but it seems ashame that I cannot complete my stage 2 due to where I
live. After all, I am a very independent worker and extremely passionate
about the subject.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Nicola
