Subject: RHEOLOGY OF EARTH MATERIALS: ISES SUMMER SCHOOL 2006
Dear Colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to the upcoming summer school on the
Rheology of Earth Materials, an opportunity for doctoral students
developing a specialization in the physical behavior of earth materials
during deformation. The application deadline, April 1, drawn near. An
announcement for the Summer School follows. Please spread the word, and
encourage eligible students to apply!
Good wishes from the Organizers,

2006 SUMMER SCHOOL on RHEOLOGY OF EARTH MATERIALS
Sponsored by Integrated Solid Earth Sciences [ISES]. Application
deadline: April 1, 2006.
The 2006 ISES Summer School offers one week of theoretical and practical
investigation on the Rheology of Earth Materials. Topics to be addressed
include: deformation mechanisms, physical and analog experiments,
petrological approaches, field rheology, numerical modelling, experimental
and natural deformation. Please review the schedule and list of
contributors at:
http://acad.coloradocollege.edu/dept/gy/ises/ISEScontributors.php .
Open to near-completion PhD students, the School further aims to build a
peer network of individuals who share research interests in rheology and
solid Earth sciences and to provide a strong mentoring experience that will
aid the transition from student to professional life. Organized in the
manner of EU summer schools, invited contributors will provide an overview
of their area of specialization, using a combination of lectures, computer
applications, textural analysis at the microscope, or hands-on
demonstration. Two field trips in Colorado will make up part of the
practical exercises during the School.
Dates: August 5 - 12, 2006
Location: Colorado College
Eligibility: near-completion doctoral students
Information and application are online at:
