Authoring Streaming Media for the World Wide Web

Intended Audience: The course will be of interest to a wide range of
content developers working in Higher Education who wish to integrate video
into online learning resources. This course will also provide participants
with a thorough knowledge of how to author web pages which provide users
with access to streaming video content. The three principal formats used
during the day are Apple's QuickTime, Microsoft's Windows Media and
RealNetworks RealMedia.
During the day course participants will look at
- the workflow for getting content ready
- an overview of copyright issues
- contemporary examples of the use of media players across a range of
websites
- source of content you can use on your webpages
- server set-up
- embedding media players
- controlling media players with Javascript
No programming skills are required, anyone with a working knowledge of HTML
will be able to follow the course.
