Has anybody used distance for butterflies? Brown & Boyce (1998) have used distance
sampling to estimate detection probability of butterfly. I am doing butterfly
survey in Indonesia
using both transect walks and point count.
I am using only 5-m range wide from the observer. I am just wondering
whether this have any implications on the assumption of distance sampling as the butterflies
wander around transect or point. With
only 5-m width, it is quite easy to estimate the distance accurately.
